2 gDiscover Babasaf Herat saffron, an exceptional spice grown exclusively in the Herat region of Afghanistan. Nestled between mountains and arid plains, Herat benefits from a unique terroir — silty soils, high thermal amplitude and exceptional sunshine — making it one of the world's most reputed regions for saffron quality.
The Herat saffron threads we select belong to the Negin grade — the finest part of the saffron crocus stigma, prized for its maximum concentration of crocin (colour), safranal (aroma) and picrocrocin (flavour). Grown and harvested in the fields of Herat using ancestral methods passed down through generations, this saffron is certified Grade A under international standard ISO 3632.
Hand-harvested at dawn on the plains of Herat, carefully dried and packaged in a hermetically sealed glass jar, it retains its full freshness, vibrant colour and the floral aroma with delicate honey notes characteristic of Herat's terroir.
